Cape Contours has a long history in the installation and maintenance of recreational and professional sports field surfaces. We offer our clients a turn-key solution to their sport field requirements encompassing all aspects of their planning including installation, establishment and maintenance.

Installation:

• Earthworks, excavation and site preparation
• Sub surface drainage (Perforated sub surface drainage in herringbone pattern)
• Drainage layers (Base course, Sand layer)
• Irrigation system (Automated system with pop up sprinklers)
• Growing medium (Soil medium into which turf roots grow)
• Laser leveling/ Grading of final growing medium.
• Turf/Lawn:- Kikuyu/Rye grass combination; Cynodon spp.; Kikuyu
• Seeded fields (Rye/Kikuyu mix or Rye/Cynodon mix)
• Instant turf (Sod) Kikuyu / Cynodon
• Goal posts, flags and field marking.

Post completion establishment:

With the newly installed field we ensure the grow-in phase is achieved through diligent monitoring.  If the field has been seeded special care needs to be taken to ensure that germination takes place successfully.  Young seedlings are tender soon after germination and need to be monitored closely to prevent the attack of pathogens and ensure sustained healthy growth.

Ongoing maintenance:

Once the grow-in phase has been achieved successfully, the fields will have to be professionally maintained to ensure a competition quality finish.  Following is a list of tasks that we perform to maintain our pitches and keep them in peak condition.

• Mowing with cylinder mowers
• Fertigation (fertilizer applied through the Irrigation system)
• Scarification
• Aeration
• Lawn dressing
• Disease treatment and monitoring
• Irrigation:
  • Maintenance of the irrigation system
  • Seasonal adjusting of the irrigation system to suit prevailing climatic conditions
