House Davisson

This architectural gabion installation was designed and installed by us to complement the architectural style of the surroundings and the landscape into which it is seated. The gabion baskets were fabricated from 3.15m galvanised welded mesh with a 50mm x 50mm aperture. The baskets were filled with Llandudno granite which originated from the site. The stone was broken down from large chunks into manageable pieces.

An architectural gabion differs from a structural gabion in that it does not only serve a functional purpose (holding back soil), it also fills aesthetic requirements. Whilst containing or holding back soil, this installation had to be sympathetic to suit its surroundings.
