This site is located in Stellenbosch, Western Cape. First and foremost a functional gabion, this structure was designed to be heavy (aesthetically and physically). Its sheer weight has the purpose of fighting massive lateral forces. But we also needed to be sympathetic to the fact that the gabion structure would be viewed face-on and so care was taken to ensure that the face of each basket was neatly packed.

The 3.15mm galvanised welded wire mesh baskets with a 50mm x 50mm aperture was custom designed and fabricated to suit the site. Sandstone boulders originating from the site were used.
